Tome Topple Readathon TBR!

Tome Topple is a readathon all about big books! The point is to read those intimidating books on your TBR that are over 500 pages. The readathon is hosted by Thoughts on Tomes, and co-hosted by The BookLife, Perpetual Page, Readers Rambles, Little Book Owl and Will Read 4 Booze. This round will run from the 16th of November to the 29th of November.

More information in this video:

For the duration of November, I’m participating in #Mythothon which is a mythology inspired readathon with a bingo card. I’m loving Mythothon so far, but I couldn’t resist joining in on Tome Topple when I noticed that there will be a new round. I took part in Tome Topple last summer for the first time, and loved it! Especially the sprints were amazing and I had a really good time. So I’ll try to pick my Tome Topple reads so that they match well with my Mythothon challenges! Check my original November TBR here 😊

November happens to be a really busy month for me in university, but I want to take part regardless! Unfortunately that means that I don’t have ambitious plans for this round. I’ll do my best nevertheless!!

My Tome Topple TBR

38525180Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor

Challenges: Read a tome that is part of a series ✔️ Read an adult novel (at least I think it’s adult rather than YA?) ✔️

522 pages

This will hopefully be my primary focus during the Tome Topple. Strange the Dreamer is my favourite book and I have been dying to read Muse of Nightmares for so long. I can’t wait any longer!

The Devil’s Thief by Lisa Maxwell38336563

Challenges: Read more than one tome ✔️ Read a tome that is part of a series ✔️ Read an adult novel ✔️

704 pages

I need an audiobook for this readathon, and The Devil’s Thief is perfect because it intimidates me with its size and that’s what Tome Topple is all about! I didn’t list this one in my November TBR for Mythothon but it could fit many different prompts on the bingo card.

I would be more than happy if I managed to finish the above two books during Tome Topple, but if my mood at the time demands something different, here a couple more tomes I would love to get to very soon:

22822858A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara

Challenges: Read an adult tome ✔️ Buddy read a tome (?) ✔️

939 pages

I have a Finnish copy of A Little Life (Pieni Elämä) which I got for Christmas last year from my big sister (thank you, Elina, you’re the best!). I have been wanting to read it for an entire year, but I haven’t found the perfect time for it. The Finnish copy is also massive with nearly 1000 pages (the English paperback has 720 pages). If I manage to get to it, I know I wouldn’t be able to finish it during the readathon but that’s alright! There are also quite a few conversations on A Little Life in the Tome Topple Goodreads page so if I take part in those, I’ll count it as a buddy read!

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind: A complete series by Hayao Miyazaki

15800525

Challenges: Read a graphic novel/manga ✔️

1104 pages

This would be my choice of a graphic novel, but let’s be real IT’S HUGE. But it’ll be perfect if I get super inspired to read a graphic novel during the readathon!

That’s my TBR for Tome Topple round 7! I would be happy if I manage to finish Muse of Nightmares during the readathon and I’m definitely not planning to read all four of these 😁

Are you participating? What are you planning to read?

And are you intimidated by big books in general? I’m not intimidated by their size but rather the time it takes to read them. That means that I’m also intimidated by short classics that take me a long time to read 👻

Thank you so much for reading!

  1. Good luck with your TBR! 🙂 I’m participating in Tome Topple as well! However, due to how busy I’m at the moment, I will mainly be focusing on one book and that will be The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, because it has been on my shelves for too long now 😱 Especially adult books tends to intimidate me … I love the Lightbringer books, but they are so huge and take me sooo long to read 😅

    • Thank you 😊 I’m so glad you’re participating too, I caught a glimpse of of your TBR post! I really liked the Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue I hope you’ll enjoy it too. It’s a good pick! And I’ll definitely be happy if I manage to finish one book within the readathon, November is a crazy month for me 😅 I don’t even know the Lightbringer series but I checked it out in Goodreads and it looks really good! I’ll definitely add it to my TBR!
