December TBR: Tis’ the Season A’Thon & Currentathon

It’s December!

December is great because I love Christmas, my birthday is on the 17th and it is the perfect time for cozy readathons 💕

Here’s what my December plans look like:

  • A Christmas party at the Zoo on the 5th 🐘
  • Finnish Independence day celebration on the 6th 🇫🇮
  • Christmas shopping with a friend on the 16th 🎅
  • A day off work for reading all day on my birthday the 17th 🎂
  • Travelling to Finland on the 19th ✈️
  • Christmas at my partner’s parents; a warm cabin in the middle of snowy woods, winter stuff like snowmen (!), lots of great food (vegan everything!) and sauna ☃️
  • Relaxing at my mom’s after Christmas – and hopefully reading a lot! 📚
  • New Years with my brother and dad 🎉

What do your plans include? Are you celebrating Christmas? How about Hannukkah or Kwanzaa or New Years?

In Christmas I also hope to take part in a bunch of readathons! I’m co-hosting Currentathon and it will run for the entire month, Tis The Season A’Thon happens from 2nd to 8th of December and it challenges me to read Christmassy reads ✨ I’ll also take part in the December round of Magical Readathon although this round is all about surprising challenges within a story and so I can’t set a TBR for that one 😀

Currentathon Announcement: December 2019

Hello my fellow bookaholics ✨

Has your currently reading shelf on Goodreads grown way out of control? Do you have 7 books on your nightstand that you have half finished? Or could you just use a really exciting readathon to get you ready for 2020??

This is fine because I’m here with a super exciting announcement: the next round of Currentathon is happening! This round will run for the entire duration of December and we have a bunch of exciting prompts 😍

I’m co-hosting Currentathon along with the wonderful Brittany @ Brittany’s Book Nook and Gina @ Randomly Bookish Gina 💞 It is a readathon dedicated for finishing up your current reads! Follow the Currentathon twitter account for a bunch of reading sprints.

We are bringing back the mighty bingo board and it has both reading challenges (in black) and more general bookish challenges (in green) so you can read as much or as little as you want to!

Tadah! Here is the December bingo board. You can try to get a bingo any which way you want, the diagonals are the most difficult and the vertical center is the least difficult. Or you could try to catch them all!

We have also taken into account that many other readathons are happening during December and you could easily match these prompts with them (we even included a cheeky little ‘A book you’re reading for another readathon’ prompt 😘)

I really hope that you’ll join us and participate in Currentathon 😊 I can’t wait to figure out my TBR!

Currentathon Mini-round Announcement: 6th to 8th September

Today I have something incredibly exciting to share with you all!

I am a new co-host of Currentathon along with the wonderful Gina @ Randomly Bookish Gina (check her booktube here) and Brittany @ Brittany’s Book Nook (check her bookstagram here). For the past month we have been hard at work to prepare a weekend long round of Currentathon!

The Readathon will run from Friday the 6th of September to Sunday the 8th of September (next weekend!). The idea of Currentathon is to dedicate time for your current reads and for books that you started but then put down for some reason. I love this readathon so much because I always have a gazillion books that I’m reading at the same time. Join us for a weekend of reading and finishing current reads! We have two games and we will be running loads of reading sprints on the twitter account: @Currentathon

This round is centered around one big challenge: Colour. Choose one colour and find it in the cover of all the books you are planning to read during the readathon. While you read books with your chosen colour on the cover, complete additional challenges on our Currentathon Bingo!

Bingo Squares

I looove readathons with bingo cards and I’m so happy that we ended up including one for this mini-round of Currentathon. Bingo is entirely optional but a fun addition if you want to make the readathon weekend a bit more interactive. Most of the challenges are easy to do so no need to stress about finishing dozens of books within one weekend.

At the beginning of the readathon we will make a thread on the Currentathon twitter account where you can introduce yourself for the other readathon participants and leave your social media handles. You can also cross off squares by marking your chosen colour on the middle of the bingo, following a new friend from the Currentathon twitter thread, sharing your TBR and reading spot online and much more.

To complete the square ‘Read a book with a complementary colour on the cover’, you need to take a quick look at this graphic:

So if your chosen colour is white, read a book with black on the cover instead!

Collecting stars

We couldn’t be happy with just one game, so we added another one. Try to collect as many stars as possible during the readathon weekend by simply reading, taking part in sprints, posting online, and playing the bingo. Colour in the stars around the bingo squares.

You don’t have to take part in the bingo to collect stars and vice versa. Also, you don’t need to do either of the games to take part in the readathon!

I really hope you will take part in Currentathon! I’m super excited already!

Let me know in the comments if you’re planning to take part or if you have any questions.

We will be running loads of reading sprints on the Currentathon twitter account, and I’ll be running some for the first time ever. EEEK.

Do you tend to read loads of books at once? Do you put down books for various reasons before you have finished them?

I do both 🙈 Sometimes I’m really enjoying a book and it still gets neglected! Also, I tend to read so many books at once that I take a long time to finish one of them Next weekend will be a perfect opportunity to pick those books back up again 😂 Next weekend will be a perfect opportunity to pick those books back up again and finish some current reads 💪

Keep your eyes peeled for my TBR post later this week 👀

Thank you so much for reading!
