Currentathon Mini-round Announcement: 6th to 8th September

Today I have something incredibly exciting to share with you all!

I am a new co-host of Currentathon along with the wonderful Gina @ Randomly Bookish Gina (check her booktube here) and Brittany @ Brittany’s Book Nook (check her bookstagram here). For the past month we have been hard at work to prepare a weekend long round of Currentathon!

The Readathon will run from Friday the 6th of September to Sunday the 8th of September (next weekend!). The idea of Currentathon is to dedicate time for your current reads and for books that you started but then put down for some reason. I love this readathon so much because I always have a gazillion books that I’m reading at the same time. Join us for a weekend of reading and finishing current reads! We have two games and we will be running loads of reading sprints on the twitter account: @Currentathon

This round is centered around one big challenge: Colour. Choose one colour and find it in the cover of all the books you are planning to read during the readathon. While you read books with your chosen colour on the cover, complete additional challenges on our Currentathon Bingo!

Bingo Squares

I looove readathons with bingo cards and I’m so happy that we ended up including one for this mini-round of Currentathon. Bingo is entirely optional but a fun addition if you want to make the readathon weekend a bit more interactive. Most of the challenges are easy to do so no need to stress about finishing dozens of books within one weekend.

At the beginning of the readathon we will make a thread on the Currentathon twitter account where you can introduce yourself for the other readathon participants and leave your social media handles. You can also cross off squares by marking your chosen colour on the middle of the bingo, following a new friend from the Currentathon twitter thread, sharing your TBR and reading spot online and much more.

To complete the square ‘Read a book with a complementary colour on the cover’, you need to take a quick look at this graphic:

So if your chosen colour is white, read a book with black on the cover instead!

Collecting stars

We couldn’t be happy with just one game, so we added another one. Try to collect as many stars as possible during the readathon weekend by simply reading, taking part in sprints, posting online, and playing the bingo. Colour in the stars around the bingo squares.

You don’t have to take part in the bingo to collect stars and vice versa. Also, you don’t need to do either of the games to take part in the readathon!

I really hope you will take part in Currentathon! I’m super excited already!

Let me know in the comments if you’re planning to take part or if you have any questions.

We will be running loads of reading sprints on the Currentathon twitter account, and I’ll be running some for the first time ever. EEEK.

Do you tend to read loads of books at once? Do you put down books for various reasons before you have finished them?

I do both 🙈 Sometimes I’m really enjoying a book and it still gets neglected! Also, I tend to read so many books at once that I take a long time to finish one of them Next weekend will be a perfect opportunity to pick those books back up again 😂 Next weekend will be a perfect opportunity to pick those books back up again and finish some current reads 💪

Keep your eyes peeled for my TBR post later this week 👀

Thank you so much for reading!

    • ahah reading slumps always cause me to pick up & put down so many books too! You can definitely see when I’m in a reading slump if my Goodreads currently reading shelf starts to get closer to 15 😂 Yay hopefully you’ll join in!! Currentathon is such a fun readathon and last time I managed to force myself through so many books I had read half of 💪
