Quote of the Day
Today’s quote is from my favourite book, Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. The book is amazing, but even isolated, this quote is really important to me.
I have always been one of those bookaholics who live with their head in the clouds. When I was a child everyone always told me that when I grow up I’m going to ‘dull down’ and then I can focus on the real things. I’m happy to report that no such dulling has ever happened and I still don’t know what those real things even are.
As many of you know, it can tough to be a dreamer. Having planned everything out and wanting something from the bottom of your heart doesn’t always count as a qualification in our wealth and privilege -driven world. That’s why this quote is so meaningful. But it is also empowering: while wanting something is not a qualification in itself, it can turn into one with time.
Quote in text:
He didn’t need to be told that “dreamer” was not a qualification. It wasn’t enough to want it more than anyone else.
– Laini Taylor
Also, some exciting news: this weekend I’ll be taking part in the Magical Allnighter which is being hosted on twitter as part of the NEWTs Readathon 2018! That means that I’ll be attempting to stay awake and read for 24 hours from Friday 7pm to Saturday 7pm. Keep your eyes peeled for a blog post on how I did on Monday! I’ll be adding it in the same format in which I did my independent 24 in 48 readathon some time back. You can also follow me on twitter where I’ll be adding some updates!
Do you like the quote? Have you read Strange the Dreamer?
Thank you so much for reading!
